MY BACKGROUND AND FUTURE

My Journalism Story

I am currently attending Central Michigan University, pursuing a degree in Broadcast and Cinematic Arts and two minors in Journalism and Communications. I am using this degree and experience to positively influence girls and inspire people of color to work toward their own goals. I have already put years of work toward achieving this goal, and I look forward to continuing my work, as it is my passion. From elementary and middle school journalism programs, to the high school yearbook and daily news programs, journalism has always been my “thing”. The clubs and sports I’ve been involved in have helped me to focus my journalism goals on helping underrepresented groups and the black community.

My future goals are simple. I want to be able to make a difference in the black community by not being a stereotype. I want to be able to pave the way for people to not be negative towards blacks.  I really want Americans to be more accepting toward the special needs and not look at them as though they are not human.

I would like to go into media production and journalism field. I love sharing people’s stories and making people aware of the “invisible” people, groups, and clubs. Within journalism, I would love to be a photographic journalist capturing the moments in people’s lives. I also want to be behind or in front of the camera as a news anchor or on the technical side as a camerawoman. I want to be a filmmaker, making PSAs to show how we can better serve various underrepresented groups. I would love to travel and share different cultures in the media. I want to be a voice to those who feel alone or in the dark. I am not saying I can do this alone or that it will be easy but I a girl who is dreaming, praying and shooting for the stars!
